Q&A with Maven Radd’s new Managing Director, Gill Raw

With extensive legal and leadership experience across regulated and high-growth sectors, Gill brings a people-first mindset and strategic vision to the role. We sat down with her to discuss her background, her priorities, and her perspective on the future of legal services.

Q: You bring significant leadership and industry experience. How has your background prepared you to lead Maven Radd into its next chapter?

A: My experience in both private practice and in-house roles has taught me the importance of delivering with clarity, empathy, and impact. At Fujifilm, I helped lead the business through one of the industry’s fastest growth journeys, which gave me valuable insight into navigating change and growth effectively and sympathetically.

Holding non-legal roles, including interim Chief People Officer, broadened my perspective - especially on the human side of leadership and stakeholder engagement. Working across cultures has also shaped my leadership style.

I’ve seen how powerful it is when teams unite around a shared purpose, and that’s something I’m excited to build on at Maven Radd. It is important to me to have a strong sense of purpose - and I feel that coming into this role.

Q: What do you see as the most important capabilities a legal provider should offer its clients? Is this the same for compliance?

A: Trust is foundational. Any legal provider can draft contracts or answer queries — but what sets a great provider apart is the ability to build genuine partnerships. That means understanding the client’s business, being proactive, and delivering advice that’s both commercially relevant and empathetic.

It’s no different for compliance. The human factors — why people behave the way they do — are often overlooked. Investing in training and behavioural insight is key to delivering the right outcomes. Compliance isn’t just about rules; it’s about culture, influence, and enabling people to make the right decisions.

A: I’ve worked with Richard, Siobhán, and others on the team before, so I know how aligned we are in our values and ambitions. I’m excited to help scale that impact: supporting our team, growing client relationships, and exploring new opportunities for collaboration.

I’m also pleased to bring my own experience to our strategic services and mentoring offering. This gives me a unique opportunity to support clients, and particularly those looking to expand, transform or optimize or those in life sciences, biopharma, manufacturing, and service delivery industries looking for industry specific advice. Mentoring is something I am passionate about. It’s something I’ve benefited from myself, and I’m grateful to be in a position to offer that experience to others who may find it valuable.

Q: What trends in service delivery are most important for legal providers to pay attention to right now?

A: One of the most significant trends is the rapid adoption of technology and AI. Legal providers must be agile and able to move at the pace of their clients. In-house teams often face high demand with limited resources, and without the right tools, they can spend too much time on routine tasks and too little on strategic work where they bring the most value. There’s also a risk that legal and compliance teams take on responsibilities that could be handled by the business, if equipped with the right guidance and tools.

Technology and AI can transform legal delivery, but only if implemented thoughtfully and aligned with business needs. That’s where the real investment lies if adoption is to deliver to its true value.

Q: What message would you like to share with anyone who is interested in working with Maven Radd?
