Stabilising a legal function through transition with flexible senior leadership.


Maven Radd was approached by the client’s specialist search consultant in relation to the vacancy and working collaboratively they came up with a creative solution to the client’s recruitment challenge; Maven Radd offered to provide a highly qualified energy lawyer with significant in-house Legal team management experience, to be retained on a part-time basis pending further clarity on the permanent role.
Working as an embedded lawyer in the client’s in-house Legal team and maintaining a weekly presence in the client’s offices over a significant period of time, Maven Radd’s lawyer had day to day responsibility for BAU legal services, strategic project support, and supervision and management of junior lawyers and trainees. They additionally provided general advice to the GC on the optimal structure and operation of the client’s Legal function. They were directly involved in the recruitment of a new Legal Director and continued to support the client as mentor to the new recruit.
Maven Radd’s committed and continuous senior in-house support, relieved pressure on the GC and helped create a strong platform for the further development of the in-house Legal team; response times from Legal were improved, better processes were established in relation to internal Legal approvals and more cost-effective ways of accessing legal services were achieved.
